To support the upcoming Matilda The Musical UK & Ireland Tour, we are looking for a Deputy Head of Wardrobe to join us from August 2025 until February 2027.
The Deputy Head of Wardrobe will ensure the production runs smoothly and consistently throughout the tour, adapting to challenges whilst maintaining the show’s original artistic vision.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Experience of leading a running wardrobe team in professional theatre.
  • An understanding of other theatre departments and resident creative team
  • Strong wardrobe and costume-related skills
  • Excellent knowledge of fabric types and associated laundry care
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work with good organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Applicants must have an understanding and practical knowledge of the principles and safe working practices in all areas of touring theatre.
This position is offered as a full time, fixed term, touring contract up to 18 months, commencing in August 2025 and ending in February 2027. There are 8 shows a week over six days (Tuesday to Sunday).
The RSC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, this role will be subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check. All offers are conditional upon confirmation of right to work in the UK, suitable references and satisfactory health profile.
