Responsibilities
  • Supervise the professional work of staff within the nursing home, in co-operation with the Home Manager in accordance with: NMC Code of Conduct, Operational Manual of the Care Home and Employee Handbook.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care of residents.
  • Participate in the evaluation and review of policies and report to the Home Manager matters that effect policy.
  • Assist the Home Manager and deputise in the overall management of the care home as required.
  • Assist in planning workloads and nursing resources as effectively as possible.
  • Ensure the safe care and custody of residents’ property in accordance with care home policy.
  • Ensure that accurate care records are maintained in accordance with agreed policy.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of: The Health & Safety at Work Act The Operational Policies Manual The Employee Handbook Assist with supervision and assessment of junior staff. Assist in staff recruitment. Assist in staff disciplinary procedures as required.
  • Participate in in-service training for more junior members of staff.
  • Assist in the orientation programmes of all new care staff.
  • To ensure adherence to the NMC code of conduct in all areas of care & practice
  • To ensure the well-being of all residents in maintaining the Six broad values of Privacy, Dignity, Independence, Choice, Rights, and Fulfilment
  • To liaise with the resident’s family, friends, GP, Community Nurses, specialists, pharmacists, local authorities, local councils, voluntary bodies and any other associations related the care for the residents
  • To take the lead in nursing, ensuring that the nursing and personal care of residents is maintained on a daily basis and in accordance to the individuals’ needs, capabilities and requirements
  • To ensure that as much of a stimulating and attractive environment as possible is provided for the residents
