(PPO #119694) About the Role We’re seeking a Deputy Human Resources Manager to support our fast-paced, 24/7 security operations across multiple sites in the local area. This key leadership role requires a flexible, proactive, and experienced HR generalist who can operate effectively in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environments. The Deputy HR Manager will work with a high degree of independence and must be comfortable executing tasks rapidly with limited oversight. The role may require nontraditional or extended hours on occasion to meet the operational needs of field-based teams. Key Responsibilities HR Leadership & Collaboration Supervise and support a small HR team. Collaborate with Operations and other departments to align HR initiatives with company goals. Serve as Acting HR Manager in their absence, with full oversight of payroll and benefits functions. Employee Engagement, Retention & Performance Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee retention and job satisfaction. Use data and engagement tools (e.g., UKG/Kronos) to monitor satisfaction and identify trends. Partner with managers on performance management, coaching, and employee development. Address employee concerns professionally, ensuring fair and consistent handling. Recruitment, Onboarding & Workforce Compliance Oversee full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, interviews, offers, background checks, and onboarding. Ensure smooth, legally compliant onboarding processes through HR systems (e.g., UKG/Kronos). Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal employment laws. Employee Relations & Investigations Conduct timely, confidential workplace investigations and maintain proper documentation. Support positive employee relations while ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable regulations. Training & Development Assess training needs and support ongoing development initiatives. Help create and manage performance improvement plans and track learning outcomes. Compliance, Reporting & Metrics Stay current with California labor laws, wage and hour requirements, leave laws (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, etc.), and HR best practices. Generate reports on turnover, hiring metrics, and compliance tracking for audits or internal use. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 5 years of HR leadership experience, ideally within California. Knowledge of California labor laws, including wage and hour compliance, protected leaves, and employment law practices. Experience in the security industry and familiarity with CA BSIS regulations preferred. Proficiency in HRIS platforms such as UKG/Kronos. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of working effectively with all levels of staff. High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive matters. Ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, and adapt to change in a fast-moving environment. Work Environment & Physical Demands Typical office environment with moderate noise levels. Regular use of standard office equipment. May occasionally lift or move items up to 30 pounds. This role may involve occasional travel to local job sites or off-site meetings.
