The post holder will be an integral member of the Diabetes & Endocrinology Services and is responsible for the operational and clinical management of the Diabetes & Endocrinology Services, including accountability for the patients’ experience of care and the clinical environment. To provide strong clinical and operational leadership to staff and patient care and deputise for the Lead Nurse as required.
The post holder will also work as an autonomous advanced practitioner providing a high standard of assessment, diagnosis, treatment and highly specialist expert advice to patients and carers
Up to full time hours available
Demonstrate highly developed clinical skills and act as clinical advisor and educator to junior staff and overall responsibility for clinical care within the Diabetes & Endocrinology Services. Set, monitor and maintain excellent standards of nursing/therapy care.
Communicate and work with the multi professional team to promote comprehensive, high quality patient care.
Be proactive in leading, developing and undertaking innovative practice within the department/service
Pro-actively participate in the prevention and investigation of complaints and take constructive action to change practice where necessary.
Where incidents are reported, initiating appropriate action and keep the Head of Service informed of problems and progress.
To provide direct line management to the teams.
To lead the development, improvement, management and promotion of the service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care through competent staff members.
Possess the skills and wide range of clinical knowledge to work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake independent, direct consultation and provision of care. Can assess, diagnose, plan care and provide treatment for complex patients in specialist field including rationale for decision making and evaluation of care.
Analyse and respond to complex clinical situations utilising specialist knowledge to assess a range of options to formulate solutions and recommendations.
