DEPUTY MANAGER – CHILDREN’S RESIDENTIAL HOME

Location: Wigan
Salary: £34,000 – £38,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
Shift Pattern: Rota basis including sleep-ins and weekends
Driving Licence: Full UK Manual Licence required
Right to Work: This role is NOT eligible for sponsorship – UK applicants only

  • You must have a full UK manual driving licence
  • **You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service with no convictions or cautions

  • You must have at least 1 year’s experience as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader, or in a similar senior-level role
  • You must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day running of a children’s residential home. You’ll work closely with the Registered Manager to deliver a high standard of care to children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs (EBD), trauma backgrounds, and complex behaviours.
The role is ideal for someone who has previously worked as a Team Leader, Deputy Manager, or taken on senior-level responsibilities in an Ofsted-regulated setting and is ready for the next step.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and supervise the care team, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations
  • Support staff training, development, and formal supervision
  • Model high standards of safeguarding, record-keeping, and professional conduct
  • Take responsibility for care planning, staff rotas, case reviews, and report writing
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Officer and support the Registered Manager in audits, inspections, and staff management
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing environment where young people are supported and empowered
  • Step in and manage the home in the Registered Manager’s absence
