DEPUTY MANAGER - CHILDREN’S HOME

  • £15.65 per hour - Overtime hours - £5 per hour = £20.65 per hour
  • 160 hours per month & at least 4 sleeps in per month @£65 per shift
  • You must hold QCF Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce
    Role Overview
    As the Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring high-quality care delivery. You will oversee the home in the absence of the Registered Manager and ensure all care planning, regulatory requirements, leadership duties, and children’s needs are met.
    About the Organisation
    Our service provides therapeutic care and support to children and young people aged 8-17 from complex backgrounds, including those with challenging behavior and Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD). We operate multiple residential units and supported living services across Staffordshire and Birmingham with a senior leadership team ensuring effective oversight.
    We believe in the importance of consistent care for children with complex needs and are committed to maintaining strong, communicative relationships with each child.

Requirements

  • Level 3 or 4 Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in a senior role within a children’s residential setting
  • Candidates must be drivers with a full, clean UK driver’s license and experience of driving Manual/Automatic vehicles (company vehicle provided)
  • Willingness and comfortable to travel to various locations as requested
  • Candidates must have the full right to work in the UK
  • Candidates must not be currently sponsored by you, or an alternative company and should not require the client to sponsor them to commence full time employment, this includes direct transfers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the manager in all aspects of running the home, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Home Quality Standards 2015.
  • Assist in ensuring each young person’s needs are met through effective assessment and care planning, including reviewing and monitoring care plans.
  • Lead in setting standards and driving improvements in service quality.
  • Promote team development and effective teamwork.
  • Facilitate and support young people in decision-making, promoting choice and involvement in house meetings.
  • Apply and review strategies developed for managing challenging behaviors.
  • Liaise with other agencies/professionals as necessary.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and communication with staff, signing off records at the end of each shift.
  • Handle young people’s personal and financial matters with integrity.
  • Participate in and document staff and young people’s meetings as needed.
  • Direct staff in the absence of managers, ensuring all tasks are completed.
  • Delegate tasks to Residential Child Care Workers/Team Leaders and monitor their implementation.
  • Ensure effective induction for new employees.
  • Conduct timely supervision and appraisals for the staff team.
  • Undertake on-call duties as directed.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
