[What the role is] The Deputy Manager, Communication, will lead NYP’s media engagement and content strategy to strengthen brand visibility and reputation across internal and external platforms. As a seasoned communications professional, he/she will lead strategic communications initiatives, spearhead media relations efforts, and ensure consistency in communication practices within NYP. He/she will also be responsible for mentoring junior colleagues, leading inter-departmental projects, and engaging stakeholders and partners to amplify NYP’s brand presence across platforms. [What you will be working on] Strategic Communications & Brand Positioning Develop and implement strategic communication plans that position NYP as the innovative polytechnic. Lead initiatives that promote NYP’s brand across owned, earned and paid platforms – including media, digital and stakeholder touchpoints. Ensure alignment with organisational priorities and standards to maintain consistency in messaging and brand voice. Media Relations & Crisis Communication Lead media engagement efforts, including pitching stories, managing press releases, and coordinating media events. Build and maintain strong relationships with media partners and key stakeholders to secure coverage and profile opportunities. Oversee crisis communication protocols, ensuring timely and accurate responses in collaboration with government agencies and stakeholders. Content Management & Editorial Oversight Supervise content creation and editorial governance for NYP’s owned platforms. Develop and enhance best practices for content lifecycle management and performance tracking. Communication Workflow & Process Improvement Manage communication workflows and systems, identifying areas for improvement through data analysis and stakeholder feedback. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency through creative ways to amplify content. Stakeholder Engagement & Research Lead stakeholder engagement initiatives to inform content and media strategies. Provide data-driven insights to support management’s operational and strategic decision-making. Team Leadership & Mentorship Guide and mentor junior team members, ensuring high quality output and professional growth. Solve non-routine problems through creative thinking and technical expertise. Lead inter-departmental projects and initiatives to advance NYP’s strategic objectives. [What we are looking for] Relevant qualification in communications, journalism, public relations, or related disciplines. Proven experience in strategic communications, media relations, and content management. Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams with moderate complexity and risk. Strong analytical skills and experience in data-driven content marketing. Skills & Competencies Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English; proficiency in a mother tongue is advantageous. Strong media relations and networking capabilities. Project management expertise with ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Creative and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritise projects and manage timelines. Resourceful, adaptable, and skilled in stakeholder engagement.
