Job Title: Deputy Manager – Maternity Cover
Location: Goslings Nursery, 106 Evelina Road, Nunhead, London SE15 3HL Contract Type: Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover [6–9 months])
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000
Working Hours: [Full-Time / 40 hours per week]

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager to provide maternity cover and support the leadership of our team during this period.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
· Minimum Level 3 Early Years Education and Childcare qualification (or equivalent)
· At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a nursery setting
· In-depth knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding best practices
· Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
· Ability to lead a team effectively and provide inspiration and motivation
Desirable:
· Level 5 qualification in Early Years Leadership or Management
· Paediatric First Aid and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) certification
· Experience with SEND and working in an Ofsted “Good” or “Outstanding” setting

This is a temporary, fixed-term role for 6–9 months to cover maternity leave for our Deputy Manager. To support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day operational management of the setting, ensuring the highest standards of care, learning, and safety. You will play a key role in leading the team, maintaining compliance, and creating a positive, stimulating environment for children.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist the Nursery Manager in ensuring the smooth running of daily operations.
· Act as the Manager in their absence, maintaining a high standard of care and leadership.
· Ensure compliance with Ofsted, EYFS, health & safety, and safeguarding requirements.
· Lead, mentor, and support the nursery team, conducting supervisions and appraisals.
· Promote strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies.
· Support planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities in line with EYFS.
· Monitor and evaluate staff performance, training needs, and room standards.
· Maintain accurate records relating to children, staff, and nursery operations.
