Stallcombe House is a residential care setting for 33 adults set within 55 acres of organic gardens and working farm on the outskirts of Exeter.

SKILLS

  • Significant experience of working with and supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of high quality care.
  • Level 5 Diploma in ‘Leadership for Health and Social care and Children and Young People’s Services’ (or equivalent qualification) or happy to work towards.
  • An in-depth understanding of the regulatory and statutory care requirements of a residential care home.
  • Experience of managing staff.
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire and motivate both residents and staff.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY:

Overall responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of care is provided.. Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
Manager with overall responsibility for the day to day running of the service. Ensuring care is of the highest standard and the organisation is both statutorily compliant and follows best practice guidelines.
To positively promote and follow the ethos and philosophy of Stallcombe House when working with residents, families, staff and other professionals.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To positively promote and follow the ethos and philosophy of Stallcombe House when carrying out all aspects of the role.

  • Ensuring that staff provide the highest standard of care to all residents
  • Foster a culture where residents are at the heart of all decisions made and staff actively promote the philosophy of Stallcombe Community.
  • Ensure that the working practices of staff are statutorily compliant and follow best practice.
  • Support the Registered Manager and Head of Operations in ensuring care plans, guidelines and action plans are legally compliant and are being followed.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safeguarding of residents; escalating any safeguardings as appropriate.
  • Responsibility for all relevant medical and psychological referrals.
  • Responsibility to ensure that resident’s personal monies are being spent appropriately.
  • Responsibility for the management of medication ensuring that it is dispensed correctly and managed within all legal requirements.
  • Support the Registered Manager in the process of inducting new residents or when residents leave.
  • Manage all complaints or incidents effectively and ensure any lessons learnt are disseminated appropriately.
  • Support staff and managers to ensure that the organisation complies with current statutory and regulatory obligations at all times. In particular, CQC, Health and Safety and current employment law.
  • Responsible for ensuring staff keep records in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that close links are fostered with the parents/carers of residents.
  • Responsible for building a network of external contacts to provide external expertise when needed.
  • Responsible for the management of Team Leaders and Shift Leaders.
  • Provide clear leadership so that staff feel valued and empowered to perform their roles effectively.
  • Support managers to ensure that all staff, are recruited, managed, deployed and trained effectively.
  • Maintain statutory compliance and best practice in all areas of staff management and employment law.
  • Ensure staff management policies are implemented when appropriate including absence, disciplinary, grievance and capability.
