JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and personable Deputy Manager to join our senior management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the pub industry, proven leadership skills, and the ability to deliver exceptional service while managing the day to day running of a busy community pub. This role is central to maintaining our high standards, leading the team, and supporting the General Manager in all aspects of operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven management or supervisory experience in pubs or hospitality.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, approachable, personable, and customer focused.
  • Experience with stock management, ordering, and rota planning.
  • Good organisational and problem solving skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • A genuine passion for pubs, food, and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
Responsibilities
  • Lead daily operations to ensure excellent customer service and smooth running of the pub.
  • Build strong relationships with our regulars and the local community, maintaining the Castle’s family feel.
  • Supervise, motivate, and develop the team, fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture.
  • Oversee food and drink service, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Carry out back of house management, including:
  • Stock counts and control
  • Ordering food, beer, and supplies
  • Creating and managing staff rotas
  • Assisting with marketing and promotions
  • Confidently run shifts and take responsibility in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Handle guest enquiries and feedback professionally, always aiming for resolution and satisfaction.
