Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional, experienced individual with extensive knowledge in Pathology as a Senior Manager to join our senior leadership team of the Pathology Business Unit (PBU). This leadership position will work with the Programme Directors for Pathology, PBU Managing Director and PBU Clinical Directors to embed and deliver the partnership to transform Pathology services across South East London. This partnership will deliver and transform Pathology service across South East London, serving a population of around 1.7million and delivering a service for both primary and secondary care providers.
This programme will deliver significant transformation of pathology services for South East London, through implementation of digital pathology and creation of a new clinically led target operating model with a new hub and essential services laboratories working on each site, working through unified and standardised pathways. This will provide improvements in service performance, outcomes, efficiency, and position SEL at the forefront of R&D and Innovation, while delivering material savings for Trusts, and a risk and gain share royalty, dependent on delivery of critical milestones.

Responsibilities

Oversight of elements of the Transformation programme, including overseeing the transition / successful delivery of new / additional Pathology services across South East London into the contract with the Pathology Provider (including Royal Brompton & Harefield services)
Oversight and assurance of effective clinical and operational governance, giving the PBU and Trusts leadership teams assurance that Synnovis is delivering the quality of the service required, meeting contractual obligations relating to quality across all hospital sites and that clinical issues / risks are managed effectively providing oversight of remediation plans.
Oversight of Test Harmonisation (operational perspective) and new test approval processes to ensure test utilisation and availability is in line with national and professional guidelines (e.g. NICE, GIRFT,etc.)
Develop and implement strategy for Point of care testing (POCT) operated within Trust and community settings and supporting Synnovis to support the POCT services as set out in the contract. Use specialist knowledge and specialist training to harmonise POCT across Trust sites and Emergency Departments. Be the lead for the research and development (R&D) of new POCT platforms.
Represent the Trusts in executive meetings with NHS-E and NHS-London pathology.
Building a collaborative culture to ensure a strong and successful partnership with the Pathology provider (Synnovis).
