Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced early years professional for a deputy-level leadership role in a small, welcoming nursery setting that cares for up to 18 children.
The role involves supporting the childcare team and room leaders to ensure a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for every child. You’ll oversee compliance with Ofsted, safeguarding, health and safety, and EYFS requirements, while also contributing to the day-to-day organisation of the nursery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and support the team to deliver excellent care and learning.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, EYFS, Ofsted, and all statutory requirements.
  • Act as a safeguarding “designated officer.”
  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities aligned with the EYFS curriculum.
  • Maintain accurate child records, observations, and assessments.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers through clear, supportive communication.
  • Oversee rotas and ratios, ensuring the team is effectively deployed.
  • Support staff training, development, and onboarding processes.
  • Manage occupancy and resources, keeping the nursery well stocked and welcoming.
  • Carry out audits, checks, and improvements to maintain a high standard of care.
  • Conduct viewings for prospective parents and support with nursery growth.
