Support the Operational Manager and Head of Patient Access in the development and provision of a comprehensive, high quality, patient centred care service within the resources available.
The post has key functions: provide responsibility for the cancer services administration team and operational management of the cancer PTL, keeping themselves informed of policy and technical developments in cancer waiting times, patient choice and booking processes.
The post holder would be expected to liaise and engage with the Operational, General Managers/ Departmental Managers/ Clinical Staff to ensure that service level agreement activity levels and quality standards are maintained for all aspects of cancer pathways across the Trust.

Ensuring clear communication providing and receiving complex sensitive information.
Use specialist knowledge across a range of work procedures to implement robust policies for own work area and propose changes as applicable, to deliver business objectives and agreed targets.
Collaborating with Head of Patient Access to ensure sound operational management of all areas with robust systems that are continuously improved.
Liaising with General Managers and specialties regarding their inpatient activity, highlighting and escalating any issues as well as providing advice and support.
Lead the delivery of operational performance of cancer to achieve delivery of national and local targets, the development and delivery of improvement plans and reengineering of roles/models of care.
Regularly monitor trusts KPI’s in line with the RTT Standard Operating Procedures and Patient access policy and monitoring of the daily PTL’s and highlight any concerns to the appropriate Operational Managers.
Liaise with the Operational / Head of Patient Access and the Corporate Financial Business Partner agree and deliver against financial and activity profiles, identify risks and implement and review risk reduction strategies.
Responsible for departmental budget and lead Implementation and review robust systems and processes so that budgets are effectively managed and financial balance is achieved, within Trust budgetary rules, Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.
Responsible as line manager for HR function and implement HR and governance strategies and policies to achieve compliancy with Trust policies and procedures, best practice, relevant legislation and regulatory provisions.
Use analytical skills involving complex facts or situations and judgement to interpret comparisons and benchmarking.
To foster good working relationship with other departments/agencies within and outside the Trust, ensuring that all stakeholders understand, respect and recognise operational policies.
The post holder will work independently to decide how results or service improvement are best achieved referring where necessary to external reference points.
Plan and organise a broad range of complex activities including the formulation of plans.
Collaborate with the Operational / Head of Patient Access in managing staff within the team including regularly reviewing establishments to ensure Organisational efficiency and clinical excellence.
Responsible for data entry, text processing and storage of data onto data bases.
Monitoring of text messaging program and to oversee validation of all patients down to 10 weeks on the PTL and Patient Initiated Digital mutual aid patients and their administrative process.
