We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with:

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • MSc or equivalent desirable
  • Significant experience in a senior BMS role, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of MHRA compliance and ISO 15189 standards.
  • Experience with UKAS audits/accreditation
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • A patient-centred approach and commitment to clinical excellenc
Responsibilities

As the Deputy Manager and Quality Manager you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of pathology services. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, and the Pathology Manager to oversee the operational and strategic direction of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with UKAS standards, clinical governance, and continuous quality improvement.

You will:

  • Deputise for the Pathology Manager and help to lead and manage the pathology department, ensuring excellent diagnostic services
  • Oversee and develop the department’s Quality Management System (QMS) to meet ISO 15189 standards
  • Act as the designated Quality Lead for UKAS accreditation processes
  • Support and mentor a team of Biomedical Scientists and laboratory staff
  • Drive innovation, service development, and implementation of best practices
  • Liaise with clinical teams to ensure laboratory services meet patient needs
  • Manage resources, budgets, and service-level performance reporting
