JOB SUMMARY
To support the practice manager in all aspects of practice functionality, motivating and managing staff, patient services, premises and health & safety management, optimising efficiency, and overall performance, ensuring the practice achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment.
Through innovative ways of working, support the practice manager leading the team in promoting ED&I, Health & Safety and Wellbeing, quality & continuous improvement, confidentiality, collaborative working, service delivery, learning and development and ensuring the practice complies with CQC regulations.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Deputy Practice Manager. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
The Deputy Practice Manager is responsible for:
a. Supporting the practice manager in the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities and providing first contact for staff queries,
b. Providing leadership and guidance to all staff ensuring that they always adhere to policy and procedure,
c. Overall management of QOF, liaising with GPs, nursing staff and administrators to reach QOF targets and preparation of reports to update at clinical meetings monthly,
d. Brief clinicians on performance levels, advising actions to ensure high achievement across all QOF areas, ECF and supporting the PM with IIF targets, running relevant reports and adjusting coding as required to maximise achievement,
e. Supporting the practice manager with Implementing and maintaining systems to ensure compliance with CQC regulations and standards
f. Assisting with staff recruitment and ensuring all HR procedures are followed in line with current employment legislation, evaluating, organising, and overseeing the staff induction programme,
g. Maintaining DBS records and ensuring compliance with practice protocol for frequency of checks,
h. Supporting the PM with implementing and embedding an effective staff appraisal process,
i. Embedding an effective practice and staff development plan for all staff (clinical and administrative) whilst maintaining a robust training record and ensuring all mandatory training is up-to-date.
j. Leading the management of the clinical systems, ensuring IT security and IG compliance at all times and responding to and resolving all local IT issues
k. Actively encouraging and promoting the use of patient online services,
l. Overall management of patient Subject Access requests,
m. Supporting practice audit, developing searches on the clinical system and assisting clinical staff with audits
n. Reviewing and updating clinical templates ensuring they relate to current practice
o. Managing DNAs, providing data and planning tools coupled with liaison with referred repeat offenders
p. Act as one of the practices Fire Wardens, maintain additional training for this role; undertake weekly fire alarm testing and regular fire drills,
q. Act as first point of contact for premises issues and ongoing maintenance
