The post holder will
Promote and help to manage delivery of a quality nursing service, setting and monitoring clinical standards.
To be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
To work as a Team Leader and Deputise for the Eye Unit Sister, as required
To take lead responsibility for co coordinating and facilitating the training, educational and development needs of staff or
To take lead responsibility for an area of clinical practice within the Eye Unit
Act as an effective role model and demonstrate effective organisational and leadership skills.
To be a clinically effective role model for Ophthalmology having up-to-date ophthalmic knowledge and experience.
Completing where necessary nurse led clinics in Removal of sutures , Post-operative assessment and eye treatment clinics.
To be able to autonomously assess and interpret acute Eye conditions, Advise to be given via the telephone in regards to eye conditions, recommend when Patients should be reviewed and booking them to the appropriate clinic. Liaising with the doctors for the more complex eye conditions.

With the Eye Unit Sister ensure that clinical and housekeeping practice follows policies/procedures designed to prevent hospital acquired infection.
To be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
Able to remove sutures from the eye lid.
Able to review patients with bandage contact lens and change them.
Able to carry out epilation of lashes.
