Salary range: £50,574 - £53,607 p.a. inc. London weighting

  • A £5000 ‘golden hello’ for managers new to Brent, upon completion of their probationary period.
  • An annual retention payment of £3000 for eligible frontline workers and managers from Grade PO2 – PO7

Contract: Permanent

Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

The Post
The Deputy Team Manager will oversee our assessment and intervention team and review work that helps people to lead a life of their choice. As Deputy Team Manager, you will be leading a team of professionals, responding to those in need of social care support and taking appropriate interventions as required. You will be supported to enable positive risk taking and innovative approaches that support residents to lead full and active lives. Our Adult Social Care Services here in Brent use a strength-based approach to promote the independence, interest and rights of our residents and their families. Across our Adult Social Care services, we strive to deliver a culture of working together, positive risk taking and accountability. Our core aim is to support our residents to be influential active members of our community.
The Person
We are looking for experienced Deputy Team Managers who have demonstrated a high level of expertise in working with people with complex social care needs in the community, including significant knowledge and experience of Continuing Health Care.
As Deputy Team Manager you will provide clinical and management supervision to the Advanced Practitioner and up to six Social Work practitioners. You will attend and contribute to multi-agency forums and develop and nurture relationships within the Local Authority and across partnership agencies. You will have a commitment to staff wellbeing and reflective practice.
Your primary role will be to support the Team Manager to manage the team, with the assistance of the advanced social work practitioner. You will provide regular supervision and help to create a team culture of learning alongside attending leadership sessions to broaden your own practice knowledge. The ideal candidates will be dynamic and analytical in their approach and demonstrate the ability to manage competing demands and prioritise effectively to promote safe, positive and timely decisions for the residents of Brent. This role will need you to develop meaningful and purposeful social work practice and to continue Brent’s journey to in-bed strengths-based practice. Your role will also include contributing to developing practice within the team and providing mentoring to colleagues in the wider Assessment and Intervention Service
You will need to be a qualified Social Worker, with significant post qualifying experience in a statutory Adult Social Care setting.
