We are seeking a Deputy Transport Manager to help with the day to day running of our Transport Department.

Responsibilities

Support the Transport Manager to:

  • recruit transport staff in all depots
  • run the transport function in the most cost effective way
  • train new drivers as and when necessary
  • ensure all vehicles are properly maintained and compliant
  • report all necessary KPI’s to accurately measure the performance of the Reading transport function
  • meet any targets set in relation to those KPI’s
  • liaise with the sales departments to ensure customer satisfaction
  • provide cover for the remote depot supervisors in their absence
  • monitor all driving infringements companywide and action appropriately
  • carry out investigations of any transport incidents
  • maintain a safe system of work to comply with John George’s Health & Safety Policy
  • assist with transport projects from the Transport Manager
  • implement any operational, technological or procedural changes within the transport fleet to increase efficiency
