Job Opening: Deputy Voter Protection Director for Programs The Texas Democratic is seeking a Deputy Voter Protection Director for Programs to lead the Hotline and Poll Watching programs and other voter protection volunteer engagement efforts. This is a full-time paid position. What You’ll Do: The Deputy Voter Protection Director will work closely with the Voter Protection Director to implement a comprehensive voter protection plan, ensuring ballot access for all Texans in 2026. We are looking for someone with organizing experience, as well as strong problem solving and communication skills, to help recruit, onboard, train, assign, and support voter protection volunteers. As the Deputy Voter Protection Director, you will be expected to: Work alongside the Voter Protection Director to implement the voter protection plan Plan and execute voter protection programming, and manage staff who do – including the voter protection hotline and the poll watching program. Develop volunteer pipelines and processes, including processes around recruiting, training, assigning, credentialing, and managing volunteers. Create resources and facilitate trainings for voter protection volunteers and volunteer leaders Hire and train other voter protection staff to manage volunteers and reach volunteer recruitment goals Manage voter protection volunteer data in Votebuilder, ensuring organization and data integrity Support internal and external communication around voter protection in Texas. Cultivate strong relationships with county-level democratic organizations to help recruit and coordinate volunteer activities. Who You Are: TDP seeks a candidate possessing the following qualifications: At least one cycle of experience in organizing on a campaign or with a voter protection program, with specific experience training volunteers and volunteer leaders Previous experience managing paid staff is strongly preferred A creative approach to organizing and eagerness to try new solutions and adapt to new skills to meet ambitious goals Strong lens and judgment on issues of race and equity: Clearly and consistently articulates a sophisticated understanding of racial equity and structural racism as it relates to the work we do and how we operate internally at TDP. Organizes from a racial justice perspective, with emphasis on voter suppression’s disproportionate impact on communities of color Collaborative, able to anticipate teammates’ needs, willing to work long and irregular hours Strong cross team communication and organizational skills; keen sense of humor Demonstrates grace under pressure – thrives in a fast-paced environment, is decisive, and maintains composure and teamwork skills under pressure. Proven time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in order to meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, NGP/VAN, and Mobilize Committed to Democratic values and electing Democrats in Texas!
