We are looking to welcome a motivated and positive new Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to cover a one year fixed term vacancy on the Endoscopy Unit.
We work closely with a range of multidisciplinary teams and work as advocates to ensure our patients have the best plan of care to ensure they have a positive journey throughout their hospital stay.

You will need to be a motivated team orientated professional with a passion for delivering high standards of nursing care in an ever changing environment and work within a multi professional team; it is essential you communicate effectively within this environment and act in line with the Endoscopy Unit’s philosophy.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a Senior Staff Nurse post or previous deputy ward manager experience. You be will be required to manage the Unit in the absence of the Ward Manager and be able to communicate effectively to all levels. Key elements include; strong professional leadership qualities, which is critical to delivering the high standard of care our trust requires, passion to be able to motivate and increase staff morale and ability to change so to manage and encourage a learning environment. Dealing with day to day issues that may arise such as staff sickness, roster management, mitigation, complaints, incidents, tendable audits, etc. You will also be expected to support the ward manager with governance issues, training and incident management.

For full details of this interesting role please see attached job description, but some of your responsibilities will be to:
a) Deputise for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in his/her absence To Support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in managing resources effectively
b) Support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in managing staffs contracted hours, sickness, absence and training through the e-Roster system
c) Support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the assessment of all ward staffs’ performance objectively through Knowledge Skills Framework, competency and personal development planning
d) Provide clear feedback to team members in a way that is conducive to maintaining and improving performance. Where performance is poor inform Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse. When directed take necessary steps to effectively manage the individual with support from the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse
e) In liaison with relevant managers/Heads of Departments, monitor and quickly remedy any deficiencies in services, such as ward cleaning, catering, laundry, portering and administrative support
f) Demonstrate appropriate assertiveness and ability to challenge others when the rights of patients and others may be infringed
g) Promote interdisciplinary working, with outcomes aimed at the best interests of patients and cohesive service delivery
h) Actively promote diversity and equality. Generate and sustain relationships that promote dignity, rights and responsibilities
i) Be accountable for own practice and for the delegation of care given to more junior colleagues, support workers and students
