DESCRIPTION
As a GPwER in Dermatology at DMC, you will work autonomously and be responsible for delivering specialist dermatological services to our patients. This includes providing a high standard of clinical care in dermatology in line with the [GMS/PMS/APMS] contract. You will be expected to uphold GMC standards for good medical practice and support the effective management of dermatological care within the service, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The core responsibilities of a GPwER include, but are not limited to, the following. There may occasionally be a need to undertake additional tasks depending on workload and staffing considerations:
a. Delivering high-quality medical care with an emphasis on dermatology to those entitled.
b. Providing specialised dermatological services in accordance with the [GMS/PMS/APMS] agreement.
c. Treating a range of skin conditions, including complex and chronic dermatological issues.
d. Engaging in dermatology clinics and offering expert guidance to general practitioners.
e. Managing dermatological administrative duties, such as referrals and skin-related medication management.
f. Performing dermatological procedures and surgeries as necessary.
g. Maintaining precise and comprehensive clinical records for dermatological treatments.
h. Collaborating with the dermatology department and the broader general practice team.
i. Keeping up to date with the latest developments in dermatology and implementing best practices.
j. Leading dermatology quality improvement initiatives within the practice.
k. Overseeing dermatological aspects of QOF.
l. Participating in dermatology-related practice meetings.
m. Contributing to the development and maintenance of dermatological services, including clinical governance and training.
n. Ensuring compliance with dermatological standards in the appraisal process.
o. Engaging in dermatology-specific revalidation.
p. Committing to ongoing professional development in dermatology.
q. Supporting the training of medical students and junior doctors in dermatological practices.
r. Assisting the partners in enhancing dermatological services and practice income.
s. Reviewing and adhering to dermatology-specific protocols and policies.
t. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement in dermatological care.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the GPwER may be requested to:
a. Participating in dermatology audits.
b. Engaging in local initiatives to enhance dermatological service delivery and patient care.
c. Involvement in reviewing significant events in dermatology using structured approaches like root cause analysis (RCA).
