Reporting to the Design and Engineering Director, the Design and Engineering Lead/Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of the design and engineering process. This position requires a highly experienced professional with a strong technical background, capable of leading projects, directing teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and best practices.
The ideal candidate is a solution-driven thinker with excellent client relations skills, capable of managing both large and small-scale projects while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
This position is in Ottawa, Ontario.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Lead and oversee the design and engineering process, ensuring projects align with client requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
  • Planning, Scheduling, and clearly defining deliverables at various milestones in a project.
  • Direct and manage multidisciplinary teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Act as a key liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and project coordination.
  • Develop and review technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide expert knowledge in codes, standards, and regulatory requirements to guide project teams and resolve design challenges.
  • Support business development efforts by fostering strong client relationships and contributing to project proposals and presentations.
  • Oversee project schedules and budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely delivery of milestones.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement within the design and engineering teams.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the design and engineering phases.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or membership in a recognized Architects Association (e.g., Ontario Association of Architects).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading projects as a consultant within the engineering or architectural field.
  • Proven ability to manage both large and small-scale projects, from concept to completion.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, direct, and manage both large and small teams effectively.
  • Solution-based thinker with a proactive approach to overcoming design and engineering challenges.
  • Strong client relations and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster long-term partnerships.
  • Self-motivated individual with an insatiable thirst for responsibility and continuous learning.
  • Comprehensive understanding of design and engineering processes, as well as industry codes and standards.
