Lotus Group is proud to partner with our Edmonton based client, a fast growing commercial construction and design organization, who is identifying a Design Architect to join their team. Their team offers a fun, high performing environment that fosters creativity, curiosity and collaboration all while bringing their clients’ vision to reality.
The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the leadership team to drive the construction design strategy and execution of commercial construction and renovation projects across Canada. As the Design Architect, they will be responsible for leading the design process from concept through to construction documentation, ensuring compliance with building codes, industry standards, and client specifications. This role requires technical oversight of design of projects, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to project schedules and budgets.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee construction design policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
• Identify and mitigate risks within the design process for commercial projects and renovations
• Ensure timely submission and quality of design deliverables to clients
• Bring a transferable book of business to the group and maintain those client relationships to ensure continuity and trust.
• Build and maintain close relationships with existing clients
• Maintaining timelines and deliverables of projects with clients.
• Managing multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
• Experience in leading design teams and mentoring junior designers.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Optimize design systems and tools.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of experience in design of commercial construction, renovation and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of architectural, engineering, or related design principles and practices.
• Ability to manage design teams, timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and any other relevant construction technologies.
• Experience with Indigenous business operations or procurement policies is considered a strong asset.
• Ensure all written content is free from grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and typographical errors.
• Familiarity with building codes, standards, and regulations relevant to the construction industry.
