POSITION SUMMARY

The Design Coordination Specialist supports the smooth execution of design projects by managing schedules, organizing documentation, and facilitating communication between design, production, and project teams. This role ensures deliverables are accurate, on time, and aligned with company standards and production needs. This position reports to the department manager or their designate.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 years of design coordination, engineering support, or project coordination role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience working with technical drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, steel fabrication, materials, and manufacturing processes an asset.
  • Strong organizational and project tracking skills
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, budget minded
  • Creative, methodical thinker and problem solver
  • Strong track record of driving results through collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Experience with automotive racking, or packaging an asset
  • Experience with product design and development an asset

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule designer workloads, ensuring deadlines for key deliverables are met.
  • Track project timelines, proactively identify risks or bottlenecks, and escalate as needed
  • Assist in the release of projects for prototyping and production, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate
  • Support the development, implementation, and improvement of department standards and procedures (e.g., KPIs, best practices)
  • Maintain accurate records of project files, revisions, and approvals
  • Review and organize engineering drawings for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards
  • Assist in preparing drawing packages and bills of materials (BOMs) for release
  • Collect and document design feedback, including customer or internal change requests
  • Work on multiple projects concurrently, supporting communication between Design, Production, and Project Management teams
  • Provide information to Production Control and Purchasing to assist with quoting and planning
  • Support quality control and production teams during early-stage builds to ensure fit, form, and function are aligned
  • Collaborate with sub-contractors or shop personnel to review designs and prototypes as required
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to design processes and interdepartmental communication
  • Support the development of standardized design processes and promote consistency across projects
  • Input into development and improvement of processes, systems, and standards
  • Offer expertise and experience in brainstorming discussions
  • Support Corporate/Departmental Policies & Procedures
  • Some interaction with customers including supporting during customer calls
  • Other duties as required
