PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required

o PPE includes but is not limited to: hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes (steel toe or metatarsal), and /or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and may change based on the location in which the work is being completed

  • Ability to walk, step, climb, and otherwise move from one location on the job site to another

o Depending on equipment in use, the chosen candidate must be able to physically get into and get out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height

  • Ability to visually see worksite environment and observe equipment operations (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to complete repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders. Working at elevated heights
  • Ability to lift up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required
  • Ability to carry up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required
  • Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to the elements

EDUCATION:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management or a related field of study

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2+ years of related mechanical engineering design / electronic drafting experience preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to proficiently utilize Microsoft Office Suite Products including: Excel and Word, Microsoft Project and Outlook
  • Ability to proficiently utilize SolidWorks for mechanical engineering design assignments
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong attention to detail while remaining highly organized and focused on long term goals
  • Ability to multitask in a high paced work environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effective in both verbal and written communications
  • Ability to work within SolidWorks or similar design software
  • Ability to travel extensively and for extended periods of time
Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

  • Working under the direction of the R&D manager, the Design Engineer will support engineering design activities by providing design, drafting, testing, and implementation support for projects as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reads and studies all project related documents (drawings, plans, notes, internal client specifications, third party specifications, etc.)
  • Stores and maintains assigned project file(s) for quick access and for future reference
  • Ensure that project documentation is being prepared accurately, that consumable materials and work allocations are cost coded correctly and production quantities are being tracked and reported
  • Maintains milestone tracking spreadsheet(s) for assigned projects to include timelines, deliverables, and other measurable metrics are documented for the project
  • Assists the R&D Manager by performing calculations, design edits, and obtaining quotes for required subs, materials, etc. that are required throughout the project
  • Attends project planning meetings and takes/distributes meeting minutes in accordance with the R&D Manager ‘s instructions
  • Assist in the preparation and review of resource scheduling within the three week look ahead schedule and distributes the final schedule as approved by the R&D manager to operations when directed
  • Assists the R&D Manager with documenting and tracking of Extra Work costs, assuring out of scope work is being captured as a Change Order and that Extra work is not being performed without proper authorization
