Job Title: Design Engineer

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

· Experience designing with SolidWorks.
· Experience producing engineering drawings for manufacture.
· Experience producing sales product renders.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft software suite
· Good communication skills (verbal and written)
· Working as part of a fast-paced design team
· Good time management
· Basic Adobe software experience
· Experience with SolidWorks PDM
· Understanding of manufacturing methods; sheet steel, welding, machining
· Basic electrical knowledge of lighting and or LED’s
· Confident in designing to manufacturing tolerancing.
· Graphic design background
· PowerPoint knowledge

PURPOSE

To be a key part of a fast-paced Design team developing custom decorative lighting products to suit customers specifications on a range of exciting hospitality projects from around the world.
Working with local and overseas suppliers; developing a wide range of custom metalwork, glass, electronic components, and artisanal products.
To work closely with internal and external sales team, project management, procurement and technical on developing the right product within budget and on time to meet the customers specification.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Designing lighting products using 3D Design software (SolidWorks).
· Prepare product renderings to support engineering drawings (Keyshot).
· Develop new products for the business in line with Chelsom’s existing brand.
· Regular communication with commercial and technical functions to deliver the correct product.
· Work with all internal stakeholders and provide product design and engineering support.
· Responsible for product design from client sketch through to production.
· Support in solving manufacturing decisions to meet the customers’ demands.
· Work closely with suppliers on custom designs.
· Participate in product testing, installation tests, risk reviews etc.
· Support the Marketing team with producing marketing material.
· Work as part of a wider projects team alongside personnel from sales, technical, purchasing, manufacturing and commercial to help deliver fast paced solutions for a variety of project needs.
