Job Title: Design Engineer
Department: Engineering
Organizational Relationship: Reports directly to the President
Job Type: Full-Time Onsite
Shift: 1st Shift Monday – Friday
Job Description: Directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering for production. The following are the duties and responsibilities of the Design Engineer – either preformed directly and/or via subordinates:

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other related software.
• Must have proven excellent customer service skills – able resolve problems in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ability to manipulate large files in Excel and use functionality such as sorting, pivot tables, etc.
• Understand and comply with health, safety and regulatory requirements
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree, or related field preferred three to five years of manufacturing experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods of walking, sitting, and working on a computer and may also be required to stand, bend or reach with or without accommodation. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
• May work at times in a hot and humid non-climate-controlled environment.
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
• Follow safety and health standards – use of protective equipment as required.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze engineering drawings, specifications and related data to determine design factors such as size, shape and arrangement for production
• Create concepts, performance and production criteria
• Prepare layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location
• Plan and formulate engineering programs and organizes personnel according to production requirements
• Review design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer requirements
• Direct integration of technical activities and products
• Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns, graphic displays or programs that transfer data to other media
• Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases
• Identify and select material needed for production
• Modify existing programs and processes to enhance efficiency
• Perform other duties as assigned by management, supervisors and/or management
