Description

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST, AT THE START OF EMPLOYMENT HAVE PERMISSION TO WORK IN THE UK WITHOUT SPONSORSHIP.

We’re champions of the North West and we’re proud that it’s our electricity network that connects communities and helps keep the electricity flowing every minute of every day, from when you wake up to when you fall asleep and all the hours in between.
A key part of the UK’s journey to net zero carbon is the revolution of our electricity industry to enable clean, green economic growth. As the North West’s electricity network operator, it’s our responsibility to lead the way, help the region decarbonise and pave the way for the growth of renewable energy and a sustainable energy future for all.
We’re proud that in December 2024 we were named Utility of the Year by Utility Week magazine who said we punched above our weight and used innovation to solve some of the industry’s most difficult challenges. Come and be part of our team and make a difference.

Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a HV Design Engineer to join our Connections team to produce designs and quotations for customers with electricity connections to our network. The role will be focussed on both demand and generation applications for 1MVA and above.
As a Design Engineer you will be required to have a high level of technical expertise, skills and knowledge to produce high quality design and quotations for new and modified connections whilst providing excellent customer service. In addition to this you will need to demonstrate the ability to manage workloads to meet regulatory standards and customer expectations, adapt to business changes and identify the training needs of less experienced colleagues to deliver or arrange training. You will ensure designs are safe and minimum cost solutions in accordance with Electricity North West Licence Conditions, Common Connections Charging Methodology and Electricity North West Policy and Standards of compliance.
You will need to be familiar with new Low Carbon technologies that are connecting to the Distribution Network such as Electric Vehicle chargers, heat pumps, battery technology and solar.
You will be required to have a good working knowledge of ENA ER G5, G98 and G99 and have experience of designing generation systems. You will also be responsible for adhering to Ofgem’s standards, data integrity and provide accurate forecasts of information for the range of projects under your control. You will need to be results focused to ensure the exceptional customer service provided is converted into accepted quotations to sustain a healthy order book to achieve your acceptance targets.
If you are able to demonstrate your innate ability to be “switched on” and “adaptable” whilst taking “pride” in everything that you do, this is a fantastic opportunity for you.
