Are you a Design Engineer seeking to join a leading manufacturer of main steering controls for commercial vessels? This company offers a fantastic work environment and excellent opportunities for career progression, with the potential to advance to the role of Chief Design Engineer.
On offer is the opportunity to join a specialised supplier of autopilot systems, this company designs and manufactures Steering Controls and a wide range of autopilot systems and related equipment for commercial vessels. This company is the first UK manufacturer of fully Type Approved autopilot systems and is internationally represented by top brand distributors in the marine electronics sector.
In this role, you will report to the Chief Design Engineer and gain daily insights as they transition into semi-retirement. You will play a key role in driving innovative ideas forward. Your daily responsibilities may include conducting in-depth hardware and software designs, adhering to project timelines, and participating in new product design from performance testing to production testing and product launch.
This role would suit a Design Engineer from a Marine background with either AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience, looking to play a key role within a longstanding and highly regarded company.
Responsibilities:
- New product design from initial feasibility studies, prototyping, environmental, EMC and performance testing through to production testing and product launch
- Meeting agreed project timescales and allocated budgets
- Conduct detailed hardware and software design
- Train & support of junior team members
- Occasional installation and commissioning support on marine vessels within the UK and overseas
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week (8:30am-5:30pm)
