Summary
We are looking for a “Design Engineer (f/m/d)” for the “Laser Devices” department at our location in Oberkochen as soon as possible.
The department is responsible for the interdisciplinary development of our laser sensor technology. We develop optical systems from optical components, mechanisms and (housing) structures that fulfill their performance data even under the most adverse conditions such as strong vibration and extreme temperatures. Together with other development areas, this results in laser rangefinders, target markers and other lasers for special measuring tasks.

Your Tasks

  • Design and further development of highly complex laser rangefinders from concept development to series production
  • Design and optimization of optical-mechanical systems, taking into account installation space, thermo-mechanical criteria and manufacturing costs
  • Independent processing and handling of change requests for the entire product family
  • Definition of suitable materials and manufacturing processes depending on structural and thermo-mechanical requirements
  • Independent design of interface models for the electrical design (circuit boards, flex layers) including the coordination of component placements, connector installation, cable routing taking into account EMC and strength requirements as well as creating the necessary interface documents
  • Carrying out tolerance analyses and budgeting, taking into account manufacturability and adjustability
  • Calculating the strength, service life, wear, dimensions and weight of the parts to be designed
  • Providing the design solutions developed in the data management system (SAP)
  • Definition of test requirements and participation in engineering and verification tests
  • Active support for prototype construction and series production

Your Profile

  • Completed Master’s degree in precision engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar
  • Several years of experience in design, ideally in the design of precision mechanical components
  • Experience in the 3D CAD system Creo4
  • Experience in the field of technical optics
  • SAP knowledge (material master, parts lists)
  • A good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Strong communication skills and team orientation
  • Independent, quality and solution-oriented way of working as well as proactivity and creativity
  • Very good German and good English skills
