Description

JOIN SAXO BANK AND ENGINEER THE FUTURE OF DESIGN SYSTEMSREQUIREMENTS

Are you passionate about bridging design and engineering through powerful tools, prototypes, and automation? Do you thrive on turning design concepts into pixel-perfect, interactive experiences while building the internal workflows and AI solutions that make design-to-code seamless?
Saxo Bank is looking for a Design Engineer to join our DesignOps team, driving innovation in our design system - the foundation powering our global trading platforms. In this role, you’ll work hand-in-hand with our UI development team to prototype and refine advanced UI patterns, create internal tools that improve collaboration and efficiency, and develop AI-driven solutions that transform how we go from Figma to code (or vice versa). You’ll ensure that every interaction, animation, and pixel is tested, polished, and ready for production handover.
This is your chance to work at the intersection of design, engineering, and innovation in a world-class fintech, shaping workflows and capabilities that empower millions of traders, investors, and institutional clients.
What you’ll do

As a key member of our Design Operations team, you’ll :

  • Prototype, refine, and validate advanced UI patterns in close collaboration with our UI development team
  • Ensure pixel-perfect translation from Figma to interactive experiences, with accessibility built in from the start
  • Elevate usability and brand expression through animations, transitions, and micro-interactions
  • Shape and maintain our design foundations, including tokens, themes, and workflows, ensuring alignment between design and code
  • Optimise and automate design-to-code workflows, building internal tools and scripts that increase efficiency and reduce friction
  • Explore and implement AI-driven solutions such as generating front-end code from Figma components, setting up Figma Code Connect, enabling generative UI prototyping, and automating Design QA
  • Document specifications, patterns, and guidelines clearly, and partner with designers and developers to ensure adoption, consistency, and scalability across products

About you

You’re a hybrid thinker - fluent in both design language and engineering logic - who thrives on bringing ideas to life. You bring:

  • Strong front-end skills in React, HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript, with experience using Storybook, component libraries, and design tokens
  • A solid grasp of accessibility standards (WCAG, semantic HTML) and familiarity with frameworks like Adobe React Aria or similar
  • Comfort working in Figma, including advanced components, variants, and variables, and translating designs into pixel-perfect, interactive experiences
  • An eye for interaction design, with experience creating smooth, performant animations and micro-interactions
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset, with experience in tooling automation, Figma plugin development, or other workflow improvements
  • Bonus: Curiosity for AI in design workflows, from generative UI to automated code generation

Why join us?

  • Shape a next-generation design system that impacts millions of users worldwide
  • Work with cutting-edge tools, frameworks, and AI-driven workflows
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that values both craft and innovation
  • Be part of a global fintech leader where design and engineering share the same table
  • Grow your career in a supportive, ambitious environment that champions design excellence
