The Design Engineer is to provide an analysis of material handling designs by evaluating rack structures and selecting components. Components are either roll-formed or structural shapes. They will collaborate with customers using good judgement on details of work to provide a complete structure that fits their needs and follows their request. They should have a solid knowledge and understanding of structural fundamentals, building codes and material standards, and seismic design/detailing requirements of steel structures. They will report to the Engineering Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Prepares structural calculations for existing and new systems
· Possesses an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
· Maintains a record for all project responsibilities
· Makes decisions independently on engineering problems, practices, and methods
· Maintains continuing professional education within a structural engineering discipline
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Proficient in ACAD, Microsoft Office Suite or related software
· Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices
· Knowledge of Building Codes and Material Standards
· Knowledge of seismic design/detailing requirements of steel structures and foundations
· Meet with client to define project scope, present project progress, and assure satisfaction
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree from ABET accredited school in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering (Required), which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice
· Passed the fundamentals of engineering exam (EIT), certificate (Required)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
