THE OPPORTUNITY:

WSP is currently seeking a motivated Civil Design Engineer to join our Medicine Hat Land Development & Municipal Engineering (LDME) team. Reporting to the Medicine Hat LDME Manager, this position will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to have meaningful involvement in designing a wide variety of projects in terms of type and scale.
Examples of projects may include site servicing projects for public, private and First Nation clients, residential/commercial/industrial subdivisions, improvements and enhancements to municipal water, wastewater, drainage, roadway infrastructure, industrial sites, etc. As a key member of the design team, you will deal directly with the WSP project manager, other technical engineers within the team, junior staff, and CAD technicians.

• Work with team members to design exciting land development and municipal infrastructure projects including: site developments, municipal upgrades, water resources, watermain and sewage collection & rehabilitation, road design, etc.
• Prepare analyses, designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and reports
• Provide technical advisory services for engineering projects
• Provide mentorship to new and existing junior staff
• Supporting field staff throughout contract administration and field reviews for projects under construction
• Actively participate in the design and provide direction to the team throughout the design process
• Liaise with various municipal/utility/approval agencies
• Assist in the prepare RFP’s, Bid and Proposal documents; and
• Other duties as assigned
