Description As a Design Engineer, you will work with our outside and inside sales team and manufacturing team to design, produce, and deliver a high-quality hollow metal door and frame system. Job Function Print and read architectural drawings to prepare shop drawings. Draw and detail shop drawings for products and submit for approval to customers. Create bill of materials (aka listing) for customer order to release into manufacturing. Work with customers to assist them with the correct designs for their specialized needs Prepare product and project schedules for projects as requested. Provide engineering and/or technical support to customers. Participate in continual improvement projects. Support production to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Project Management: Coordinate exact material requirements from which shop drawings were created. Once all approvals of shop drawings are given, coordinate with manufacturing to ensure conditions are set for accurate delivery. Review all assigned listings for accuracy. Print and read architectural drawings in determining what is required on a job for a quote. Perform take-offs for contract jobs. Review and approve all pricing on contract jobs before sending to the customer for a quote. Meet with customers as required. Requirements Engineering Degree, preferred Experience in interior construction building products, preferred. Motivated, coachable, and able to follow instructions and procedures. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with people from all levels and departments. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Knowledge of AutoCad.
Responsibilities
The Design Engineer will create shop drawings and bills of materials while coordinating with sales and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate product delivery. They will also provide technical support to customers and perform project take-offs for contract jobs.
