YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Design Engineer at ABB Oy, High Power division.
High Power division is further investing in drive system development into different fields of applications and thus strengthening its design organization. Look no further – we have an interesting opportunity for you! Selected person will work with our power electronics design group and will be located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, Finland.
Members of the power electronics design group are responsible for main circuit and power electronics design in various product development projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to deep-dive with world-class technology in demanding projects as a part of highly skilled team. Project related responsibilities will be agreed based on your background and experience. In addition, you will have the opportunity to further your career in a global company.
The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid

Key responsibilities:

• Designing, dimensioning and verifying the main circuit and power electronics of frequency converters
• Specifying verification tests and analyzing results
• Creating design documentation
• Co-operating with subcontractors and with other design disciplines (e.g. mechanics, electronics, verification)

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE:

• M.Sc. in power electronics or in a related field
• Relevant work experience in product development project(s)
• Basic knowledge of electrical drives’ main circuit components and topologies including filtering is essential
• Experience in dimensioning of inductive components is essential
• Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g. Simulink)
• Fluent communication in English, both written and spoken. Finnish is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
