Description
Actively participates in Sale Order Kick-Off (SOKO) meetings. Completes a thorough review of proposed vs. contracted product design engineering requirements necessary to complete the job prior to the scheduled SOKO meeting. Completes work to close any requirement gaps identified at the SOKO meeting in accordance with the proposed product and contract definition. Actively provides support and updates to product baseline records efforts including such tasks as generation and maintenance of technical design data and documentation, product pathfinder/prototype performance tailoring, non-conforming material disposition, and active engagement with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to resolve issues related to manufacturing processes, inspection processes, testing setup, testing processes and failure investigations. Active involvement in providing feedback for Sales Order Close Out (SOCO) meetings. Document technical lessons learned throughout the life of the contract, e.g., inspection and test issues, individual failure investigation action, recommendations for design improvements, e.g., improved material, ease of manufacture, material obsolescence, etc. Items identified in these meetings will be incorporated into action items on or before the award of the next contract. Lessons learned should drive corrections or improvements for any future contracts. Provide input as the technical point of contact in completing assigned engineering-related efforts for all assigned projects as it pertains to design, documentation, manufacturing, and test support, to include engineering analysis, product design, drawing preparation, input to factory unit cost estimation, and product planning, as well as the support of business development (marketing) activities. Resolve issues related to qualification/production launch transition for new products. Participate in problem-solving team activities related to anomalies that manifest during production and testing as well as customer complaints or field returns. Participate in product design-related tasks in support of cost reduction projects related to assigned product, e.g., Production Preparation Process (3P) and Value Analysis/Value. Lead and manage Engineering (VA/VE) projects. Provide requested support for continuous improvement activities. Working knowledge of DOE, DFMA, FMEA, Failure Analysis, or similar tools preferred. Working knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, lean practices, and associated business tools. Working knowledge SolidWorks or similar solid modeling software. Working knowledge of fundamental engineering analysis capability; finite element analysis, e.g., SolidWorks Simulation and/or ANSYS a plus. Working knowledge with military and/or aerospace design and development requirements is a plus. Proficient in MS Office applications, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Access, Visio, and Project a plus. Ability to provide verbal and written communication of technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner. Interpersonal skills promote effective interaction with other staff, customers, and suppliers. B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering 5+ years of relevant experience
