Description
Overview Design Engineer - Sealing Responsibilities Key Responsibilities & Tasks: Design and develop automotive sealing systems (door seals, window seals, trunk seals, hood seals, sunroof seals) ensuring compliance with vehicle requirements. Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using tools like CATIA V5/V6 Define section profiles considering functional requirements such as sealing performance, compression, and manufacturability. Ensure adherence to master sections, styling surfaces, and gap & flush targets. Support Validation of designs through CAE simulations and physical testing (water leak test, wind noise, durability, compression set). Work closely with Body Engineering, Closures, Trim, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams for design integration. Interface with suppliers for design feasibility, tooling inputs, and cost optimization. Manage design releases through ENOVIA PLM systems. Handle Engineering Change Requests (ECR/ECO) and ensure proper documentation. Ensure compliance with OEM standards, regulatory requirements, and global specifications. Apply best practices in weatherstrip design, rubber materials (EPDM, TPE), and joining techniques. Qualifications Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree in Engineering in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering. Essential skills Essential: Strong design knowledge of automotive sealing systems & weatherstrips. Expertise in CATIA V5/V6 and ENOVIA PLM Systems Understanding of Body-in-White (BIW) interfaces and closures systems Knowledge of Sealing DV/PV and testing standards. Exposure to global vehicle development processes (GPDS, APQP) Desired skills Desirable: Experience 4-10 years
