Title: Design Manager - Aviation Location: Stansted Reporting to the Technical Director, the Design Manager is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and technical governance of electrical and building services design activities within the AI Aviation Business. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and innovative engineering solutions that support aviation infrastructure and intelligent building systems. What you will be doing: * Lead and support the day‑to‑day delivery of electrical and building services design within the AI Aviation Business, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑quality outcomes. * Build an inclusive, high‑performing design team through effective resourcing, mentoring, development, and performance management. * Ensure design activities meet technical standards, regulatory requirements, and organisational quality and safety processes, including BMS and CDM. * Provide clear technical guidance, review design deliverables, and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to develop robust, value‑engineered solutions. * Lead technical site assessments, develop scopes and specifications, validate subcontractor proposals, and support tenders with accurate technical input. * Manage design change control, communicate risks and changes (CEs/EWs), and support smooth handover to construction and commissioning teams. * Promote innovation and digital engineering approaches that improve efficiency, collaboration, and design quality.
