Join our Rail team as a Design Manager on the Beckton Depot Southern Extension (BDSE) project and you’ll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you!
What you’ll be doing
The Design Manager is responsible for the Project Management of the design deliverables to assure the safest, most cost effective and buildable temporary and permanent works designs that meet with the Clients specification and industry standards, within budget and programme constraints.

Desirable personal experience of a Design Manager:

  • Degree in Engineering in related subject.
  • Progressing towards chartered status.
  • Previous Multi-disciplinary Design Management Experience and preferred knowledge of Client Standards and procedures.
  • Experienced professional with good knowledge of a discipline and a working knowledge of other related disciplines

Preferred previous site experience in sector.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple interfaces and drive team performance.
  • Sound knowledge of health & safety legislation and CDM 2015 Regulations
  • Familiarity with project lifecycles, governance, and risk management.
  • Working knowledge of multi-disciplinary railway engineering encompassing P-Way, ETE, Civils and Signalling, etc as a minimum.
  • Experience leading IDR/IDCs, meetings, workshops, and presentations
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • To implement the management of designs and various design deliverables compliant with Client requirements and standards.
  • Manage the Design phase of the project from pre-construction through to Acceptance of Design.
  • Ensure seamless coordination and integration of all design disciplines.
  • Support the interface management between project stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and construction teams to maintain alignment and clear communication.
  • Ensure constructability reviews by construction teams to optimise designs.
  • To assist with the planning, review and development of the design programme
  • To attend and assist with various meetings with designers, client and keepingrecords of various discussions and action
    Who we’re looking for
