THE OPPORTUNITY As a Design Manager, you will lead and inspire a talented design team, driving the creative vision and ensuring all solutions are functional, on-brand, and user-focused. This strategic role bridges design with sales, marketing, and project management to deliver impactful, innovative designs that exceed business goals and enhance client satisfaction. You’ll champion collaboration, foster innovation, and guide the team to create exceptional experiences that support new business opportunities and strengthen client relationships. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Guiding and mentoring designers, supporting their growth and advocating for a high-performance, collaborative culture. Leading the end-to-end design process: programming, space planning, site analysis, specification of products/finishes, and documentation for installation. Steering creative review and quality control, ensuring all deliverables meet brand, usability, and client standards. Collaborating with sales and project management to translate client objectives into compelling design proposals; assist in key presentations, drawing and cost packages, and client meetings. Developing scalable design systems that maintain consistency and leverage current industry trends. Managing project timelines and budgets, demonstrating agility and problem-solving to meet business objectives efficiently. Continuously identifying and implementing process improvements and digital tools that enhance collaboration, reduce administrative burden, and increase customer interactivity. Building strong relationships internally and externally, serving as a positive, strategic representative in departmental and client discussions. Fostering a culture of engagement through mentoring, coaching, delegation, and recognition. Modeling reliability, inclusivity, and accountability by setting clear expectations, evaluating performance, and celebrating creative solutions. Leading initiatives that drive professional development, creative excellence, and cross-disciplinary teaming within the company and with clients. Monitoring the team’s budget, resource allocation, employee records, and performance. WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, or related field; 6+ years relevant experience, including team leadership. Deep expertise in MillerKnoll/Herman Miller/Knoll products and design principles. High proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, CAP, CET, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent), and basic competency in relevant business technologies (Excel, MS Word, CRM/order management tools). Demonstrated leadership: ability to inspire, motivate, and develop design talent. Strong business acumen: understands customer expectations, market trends, process optimization, and financial implications of design decisions. Outstanding communication: able to clarify and articulate ideas, influence outcomes, and present confidently in both written and verbal formats. Collaborative, decisive, and resilient; adept at managing multiple projects, deadlines, and shifting priorities.
