Description

GLOBAL DRAIN TECHNOLOGIES: ENGINEERING A CLEANER FUTURE

Global Drain Technologies is a leading manufacturer of engineered drainage systems for the food and beverage industry, industrial facilities, and urban landscape projects. We’re proud to be the recipient of the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Emerging Award, showcasing our commitment to innovation and excellence in Manitoba’s manufacturing sector. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a versatile and creative Design & Process Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities
  • Drive Innovation: Conceptualize and design new and improved engineered drainage solutions, from initial sketches to detailed 3D models.
  • Design & Model: Utilize 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or Fusion is a strong asset) to develop detailed and accurate designs for new products and components, with a focus on sheet metal design and fabrication principles.
  • Bring Designs to Life: Actively participate in the prototyping and testing phases. This includes hands-on experience with 3D printing for rapid prototyping, welding for creating functional prototypes and fixtures, and assembling components to validate designs.
  • Sheet Metal Expertise: Leverage your in-depth knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes to create efficient, manufacturable, and robust product designs.
  • Process Analysis & Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing lines and workflows, identifying areas for improvement in terms of layout, efficiency, and throughput, particularly for our one-piece flow systems.
  • Creative Problem Solving: Apply your knack for designing and building to develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges and identify opportunities for product and process improvement.
  • Tooling & Fixture Design: Conceptualize and design necessary tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing and assembly processes, drawing on your practical fabrication experience.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop and implement SOPs for new or optimized manufacturing processes related to your designs and improvements.
  • Collaboration & Implementation: Work closely with our manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure designs are optimized for production, cost-effectiveness, and meet our high-quality standards. Support the implementation of process changes on the shop floor.
  • Monitor Impact: Assist in monitoring and measuring the impact of implemented design and process changes on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead time, quality, and productivity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to a culture of innovation by exploring new materials, manufacturing techniques, and design methodologies.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain clear and concise design and process documentation, including drawings, specifications, SOPs, and bills of materials.
