DESIGN QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER - EL SEGUNDO, CA (ONSITE) The aerospace Design Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the entire product life cycle (planning, design, build, test, certification) meets all internal quality standards and applicable regulatory guidelines and standards i.e. FAA/ISO/DO-178/DO-254/DO-160. (Hardware/Software/System) RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and Implementation of Testing Procedures- Support the development and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and processes to validate product design and functionality Manage and maintain records for aircraft conformity, quality documentation, and certification reporting. Develop and manage inspection schedules for parts, kits, documentation, and test articles to ensure regulatory compliance. Work closely with product development teams to ensure design for quality is integrated into prototypes and pre-production builds Create and manage documentation such as inspection criteria, test plans, design and process failure mode effects analysis and risk assessments Analyze and Audit Designs – Conduct audits to ensure Design life cycle is in accordance with the approved process Participate in design reviews such as preliminary design reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Prototype reviews, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, Verification and Validation, Final Design Reviews. Establish robust inspection criteria/plan to verify conformance Coordinate activities with Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DARs) and Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) to support inspections and certifications Support the VP of Certification and Sr. Director, Quality in responding to FAA requests and audits. Lead internal and supplier audits to AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA standards; track findings and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Develop and track quality metrics, analyze trends, and drive continuous improvement across engineering and production processes. Support ongoing improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with regulatory (FAA/EASA/DCMA/ISO-AS9100) and customer expectations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering discipline. Or, 6 + years of experience in aerospace quality assurance experience 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, supplier quality, or conformity inspection in the aerospace industry Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and FAA regulatory requirements 4+ years of working experience with regulatory agencies such as FAA, ISO/AS9100 registrars, and customers 4+ years of working experience in reviewing installation, assembly and electrical drawing and participating in design reviews Working experience with FAA approved– Designated Manufacturing Inspection PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering discipline Experience working in a startup environment Experience in Aerospace Quality Management, or other related field Project or office management experience ISO/AS9100 lead auditor WHY SKYRYSE?
