REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. (Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Manufacturing preferred).
• 3+ years of design and development experience with exterior plastic components (e.g., side rockers, liftgate spoilers, rear finishers, bumpers/fascia).
• Prior DRE experience with exterior plastic components and collaboration with styling teams.
• Strong knowledge of DFMEA, GD&T, and DFM for injection molding (including painted parts).
• 3+ years of experience creating high-quality parametric CAD models in CATIA V5/V6.
• Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled Design Responsible Engineer (DRE) – Exterior Closures to join our team. The DRE will lead the design, development, and release of exterior closures (liftgate, side doors, and plastic components) for an Automotive EV OEM. This role requires a strong background in exterior plastic component design, supplier collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork to deliver high-quality solutions from concept to production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead design and release of assigned vehicle system components and assemblies from concept through production.
• Develop and mature exterior plastic components, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, cost, weight, and investment targets.
• Collaborate with purchasing, suppliers, testing, manufacturing, and other vehicle subsystems.
• Own quality of component CAD models and technical drawings.
• Define specifications and requirements with suppliers.
• Support root cause analysis and provide technical documentation.
• Coordinate and lead design reviews, reporting progress to leadership.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives and product improvements.
