Description

The Design Support Technician position will be responsible for assisting the needs of The Engineering / Development Department. The Engineering Technician position will work alongside our Engineering Team to help complete all development projects. The Engineering Technician position will help with Local Pickups/Deliveries, Product Validation, & creation/curation of Technical Documentation.
· Creating Technical Documentation: Develop and manage technical resources to support engineering, manufacturing, contractual requirements, and customer needs. Create Operation Manuals - Provide step-by-step usage instructions for customers, focusing on clarity and accuracy. Create Service Manuals - Develop detailed manuals to support field technicians with maintenance, diagnostics, and repair procedures. Altering Payload Studies - Analyze, log, and create payload studies that show altered payload configurations and changes in the center of gravity on upfitted vehicles. Customer Information Pamphlets - Assist in the creation of simplified, visually clear guides and marketing materials.
· Validation Support: Assist engineering during product validation. Develop Test Models - Create physical or digital prototypes to simulate product fitment and evaluate conceptual designs. Assist with Hands-On Installations - Work alongside the team to install parts to check for fit and function. Record Design Notes - Document observations, design challenges, and test results for current and future development. Take Installation/Test Photos - Capture key steps during validation to visually document progress and modifications. Project Clean-Up Support - Clean up physical materials and file away documentation after validation is complete.
· Local Development Distribution: Pick up and deliver development materials to support prototyping, testing, and evaluation. Samples - Distribute samples to internal team, customers, or suppliers. Test Products - Deliver supplies to internal teams and suppliers for development projects. Track Products - Help manage test parts by labeling, organizing, and keeping their status up to date throughout development.
· Documentation Curation: Organize, maintain, and update internal documentation to improve efficiency and long-term knowledge retention. Organize Files and Logs - Maintain a structured file systems for easy access to project documentation and historical data. Update Manuals and Schematics - Revise operation manuals, electrical schematics, and internal references to reflect the most recent design updates. Other duties may be assigned.
· Associate Degree or equivalent Technical Training. Preferred-; in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
· 2 years of experience within the Automotive Industry Preferred-5 years of experience within the Automotive Industry and knowledge of Police Vehicle Equipment
· Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must have experience with MS Office. Must be familiar with Technical Writing and Documentation. Must be familiar with working hands-on with automotive equipment. Must be able to multitask.Must be a strong communicator. Must be an organized Individual Preferred: Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of engineering methodologies and tools. Experience with hand tools and working with automotive equipment. Experience with the AutoCAD, Corel Draw, Adobe, & Photoshop. Knowledge of the 16949 or IATF16949 process, the Environmental Management Systems, and OSHA Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and resolution skills.
