Responsibilities:
WHAT’S YOUR ROLE?
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Design & Experience Architecture, the Design System Manager is responsible for leading the development, maintenance, and evolution of the enterprise design system. This role involves managing a team of design system designers for web and mobile native (iOS/Android) and Senior Visual Interaction Designers to create cohesive design frameworks that ensure a consistent and high- quality user experience across all digital products. The Design System Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate the design system into the product development process and drive its adoption across the organisation.
In this newly created role you will:
- Lead the creation, documentation, and maintenance of a comprehensive design system, including UI components, patterns, and guidelines, ensuring it is scalable and flexible to meet the needs of various products and platforms.
- Create and manage a reusable component library designed for multi-brand and multi-channel use, including web and mobile platforms, collaborating with designers and developers to build and maintain high-quality, reusable components.
- Establish and enforce governance processes to ensure the design system is used correctly and consistently, conducting regular reviews and audits to maintain its quality and integrity.
- Develop and deliver training programs and resources to educate teams on the design system and promote its adoption.
- Establish and manage adoption and contribution workflow models to encourage team participation and collaboration.
- Implement and maintain semantic versioning for the design system to manage updates and ensure compatibility across projects.
- Work with product, design, and development teams to integrate the design system into the product lifecycle, providing guidance on its use.
- Communicate strategies, progress, and outcomes to internal teams and senior leadership, advocating for widespread adoption and contribution.
- Manage and mentor a team of direct reports, including design system designers for web and mobile native (iOS/Android) and Senior Visual Interaction Designers and indirect colleagues of technology, foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team, promoting continuous learning and professional development.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, engineering, and marketing, to ensure that research insights are effectively integrated into the product development process.
- Act as a key liaison between the research team and executive leadership, effectively communicating research findings and their implications for business strategy.
- Develop and track metrics to evaluate the financial impact and benefits of the design system
