Work Shift Job Summary: The Designated Institutional Official (DIO) at Wellstar Health System plays a crucial role in leading and overseeing the development, implementation, and strategic direction of Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs. In this position, the DIO ensures that all GME initiatives align with Wellstar's mission, vision, and values, driving educational excellence and fostering a culture of lifelong learning for residents and fellows. The DIO is responsible for maintaining full compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards at both the institutional and program levels. This includes overseeing the accreditation process, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements, and working closely with leadership to support the continuous improvement and expansion of GME programs throughout the health system. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions 1. Program Administration of Graduate Medical Education, including but not limited to: - Coordination of Graduate Medical Education with Hospitals and Health System Operations at all levels - Coordination of CME and Library services with Chief Learning Officer - Administration of State, Federal or other Grants in Aid for support of GME - Oversight and development of strategies for growth and funding of GME - Implementation and oversight of appropriate Faculty development 2. Duties of the Designated Institutional Official - Responsibility for the oversight of the GME program at all Wellstar locations consistent with ACGME guidelines. - Responsible for the required reporting of program data to ACGME and WellStar Health System Board. - Oversight of Curriculum design consistent with -ACGME with coordination of common elements among different specialty programs. - Responsibility for the budget and administration of the GME program at all Wellstar GME locations. 4. Clinical practice: - Maintain an office based clinical practice where patients are seen on a regular basis - Participation in an on-call schedule consistent with clinical practice needs - Participation in Hospital Medical Staff departmental activities - Participation in Community health-related activities Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education: Doctorate Medicine Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. MD - Medical Doctor or DO - Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 7 years Clinical experience post residency training Required and Minimum 5 years Core Faculty membership for an ACGME accredited teaching program Required and Minimum 3 years Administrative experience for an ACGME accredited teaching program Required and Required Minimum Skills: A skilled clinician who prioritizes patient-centered care. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated skills in relationship building, change management, and project management. Knowledge and understanding of the Institutional and Program requirements of the ACGME. Demonstrated skill in teaching with knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles.
