OVERVIEW

We are searching for a Designated Master Electrician (DME) to step into a General Manager role at one of Hamilton’s longest-standing electrical contracting firms. As the company’s General Manager and DME, you will oversee a team of 5–15 electricians and office staff, driving operational excellence, team development, and overall company direction.
This unique opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and is passionate about leading people, building customer relationships, and small business development. You will be the face of the company for many of our largest clients, responsible for maintaining long-standing partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, and driving business growth.
The role includes a competitive salary in the ballpark of $90,000 - $100,000 annually, company-provided vehicle, and a strong benefit package. A profit sharing agreement will also be discussed. Regular hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM, however the General Manager may be required to work outside or in addition to regular hours, averaging approximately 42-45 hours per week.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in leading electrical teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong background in quoting and estimating electrical work across various sectors.
  • Exceptional sales and customer service skills, with a track record of building lasting client relationships.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems, codes, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Strong IT skills including experience with either Microsoft or Google platforms and ability to adapt to evolving technologies and software.
  • Must hold a valid Designated Master Electrician (DME) license in good standing with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), as required under Ontario Regulation 570/05.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of 5–15 electricians and office staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the quoting process for residential, commercial, and industrial electrical projects, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and profitability.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key customers, acting as the primary point of contact for service contracts, project quoting, and ongoing support.
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying new quoting opportunities and expanding service contract offerings.
  • Report directly to the Controller who oversees company performance and tracks business success at both the financial statement and individual job level.
  • Work closely with the Office Manager to assist with scheduling, material ordering, and other administrative tasks.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, supporting their development and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
