Description

ARE YOU A SKILLED MENSWEAR DESIGNER WITH THE ABILITY TO PUT FASTMOVING TRENDS INTO SUSTAINABLE FASHION WITH THE AIM TO OPTIMISE AND DEVELOP THE SELECTED BRAND TOGETHER WITH A DEDICATED DESIGN TEAM?

SELECTED is looking for a menswear designer to join our design team and take part in the development of our collections at our main offices in Brande, Denmark.
If you have a strong track record in creating high-quality, commercially successful styles, alongside a deep understanding of the latest trends and fabric innovations, you’ll be able to truly make an impact on our collections.

YOUR BENEFITS

  • This is an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic and growing brand. Our ambitions are high, and the opportunities are great, but most importantly you will join a team with highly skilled and engaged colleagues.
  • We continuously work to make the next collection more sustainable than the last, seeking inspiration and innovative ways to make fashionable ‘value for money’ products with more sustainable fibres.
  • We believe that a good work-life balance is key to well-being, which is why flexible hours and the opportunity to work remote is an integral part of our culture.
  • You will be given plenty of responsibility and opportunities to grow with regular sparring from experienced colleagues.
  • You will be part of a culture where we have a firm belief that if we collaborate and help each other, anything is possible.

YOUR PROFILE

We are seeking a passionate and motivated menswear designer with a creative mindset and structured way of working. You have good knowledge and understanding of today’s competitive fashion industry.
Taking initiative and working independently comes naturally to you. You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills, that thrive in a busy and dynamic environment. You clearly articulate your design ideas and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (i.e. Buying, Marketing, Sales). You have problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Fashion Design or a related field
  • At lease 1-2 years of experience as a designer in menswear
  • Understanding of the international fashion industry
  • Strong understanding of menswear trends and consumer preferences
  • Solid technical knowledge of garment construction, fitting, fabrics and materials
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant software
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
Responsibilities

With our brand DNA in mind, you take part in the entire design process from concept stage through to the finished product. The work environment is dynamic and informal, and you will work closely with colleagues that are all passionate about the products they produce, which we therefore also expect you to be. In collaboration with buyers and suppliers, you will be working consistently on ensuring newness and improving our products.

More specifically, your tasks include:

  • Research of new macro tendencies, seasonal trends, product ideas, colours and fabrics
  • Creation of new collections, product concepts, trend presentations and design sketches
  • Ensuring that the collections are built in line with theme, expression and price in accordance with our brand DNA and values
  • Seeking to develop more sustainable solutions and products
  • Sparring and knowledge sharing with other designers and buyers on the development of the collections
  • Developing technical drawings in Adobe Illustrator
  • Commenting on samples in collaboration with the buyers and pattern designers
  • Being up-to-date on relevant KPIs and using them actively in the evaluation and follow-up of the collections
  • Presenting trends and collections to Sales and Marketing to inspire and secure that ideas and product stories can be communicated clearly all the way to the end consumer
  • Collaborating with the Sales department on feedback and customer expectations.
