Description
Design of subsea umbilical and distribution equipment such as umbilical cross section, topside and subsea termination assemblies and general arrangements, mudmat foundations, steel tube flying leads, and umbilical installation reel and sea fastening arrangements. Development of 3D SolidWorks models in accordance with industry and client standards and specifications under the direction of the lead engineer Generate 2D drawings using AutoCAD for umbilical cross section layout and hydraulic and electrical schematics Create drawing packages inclusive of assembly and general arrangement through detailed component level drawings including fabrication and machining drawings Generate materials and BOM in SAP Performing tolerance studies to ensure fitment of assemblies Participate and assist in preparation for internal and client design reviews Provide input data to engineers for required calculations Generate physical models using 3D plotter upon request Provide manufacturing and supplier support as required Associate Degree in Drafting and Design, or equivalent 10+ years of technical experience. Subsea engineering experience is preferred but not required. Experience with subsea umbilicals, subsea distribution equipment, or subsea equipment is preferred. At a minimum, a thorough understanding of basic machining and fabrication processes is required. Capable of reading, interpreting and producing electrical and hydraulic schematics. Competency with software such as SAP, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MathCAD and Excel. Effective communication of ideas and concepts and ability to explain detailed technical information. Ability to develop good working relationships and work well in a team environment. Capable of developing strong working relationships with a variety of roles. Solid general technical ability. Strong work ethic. Hands on approach to design and willingness to support manufacturing activities as required. Familiarity with 3D rapid prototyping. Continuous improvement mindset with focus on cost effective design solutions.
Responsibilities
The designer will be responsible for the design of subsea umbilical and distribution equipment, including creating 3D models and 2D drawings. They will also assist in preparation for design reviews and provide manufacturing support as needed.
