Role: Desktop Engineer (SOE & Microsoft Intune)

Responsibilities:
Design, develop, maintain, and support Standard Operating Environments (SOE).
- Build and maintain Windows desktop configurations and deployment images.
- Manage operating system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle activities.
- Administer and support Microsoft Intune environments.
- Configure device enrolment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, and security controls.
- Implement application deployment and software packaging solutions.
- Support Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM) capabilities.
- Monitor endpoint compliance and remediate issues across managed environments.
- Implement endpoint security controls, hardening standards, and security best practices.
- Configure and support Microsoft Defender and endpoint protection technologies.
- Support vulnerability remediation and security patch management activities.
- Troubleshoot complex desktop, device, application, and operating system issues.
- Support Microsoft 365 workplace technologies and collaboration platforms.
- Participate in desktop deployment, migration, and workplace modernisation initiatives.
- Undertake testing, validation, quality assurance, and service transition activities.
- Develop technical documentation, standards, knowledge articles, and support procedures.
- Monitor platform health, performance, and compliance metrics.
- Identify opportunities for automation, optimisation, and continuous service improvement.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, cyber security, and service delivery teams.
Key Requirements:
Extensive experience supporting enterprise desktop environments.
- Strong experience designing, managing, and supporting Windows SOE environments.
- Demonstrated expertise administering Microsoft Intune in enterprise environments.
- Experience with endpoint management, device compliance, and application deployment.
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and enterprise desktop technologies.
- Experience implementing endpoint security and device hardening controls.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 workplace technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting large-scale desktop deployment, migration, and refresh activities.
- Ability to create high-quality technical documentation and engineering standards.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities within complex ICT environments.
Desirable Skills:
Experience supporting Australian Government environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
- Experience with Entra ID (Azure Active Directory).
- Experience with Windows Autopilot deployment and device provisioning.
- Experience with SCCM/MECM (Microsoft Configuration Manager).
- Experience supporting cyber security uplift initiatives.
- PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
- Experience supporting infrastructure modernisation and workplace transformation programs.
- Knowledge of Essential Eight and Australian Government security frameworks.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications across Endpoint Management, Intune, or Modern Workplace technologies.
